You might feel like you are riding a roller coaster of emotions right now – and the truth is, that is because you probably are – but you’re not alone and countless others have felt these same emotions during this moment of transition.

To try and help guide you through these confusing times, we’ve gathered advice from teachers and our team on how to navigate the important days and weeks ahead.

Stay calm and positive
Just like when you conquered your GCSE results, aim to keep a calm and positive mindset. Regardless of your results, remember that your worth isn’t tied to them. You’re amazing, no matter what.

Understand that A-levels are just one chapter on your journey, not your entire story. Keep your long-term goals in sight – your hard work will lead you there.

“Results are a path to the next stage in your career. If they weren’t what you expected, it just means there’s a different path that’s right for you. To borrow from Jurassic Park, ‘Life finds a way.'”

Get the info
Find out when and where to collect your results, confirming the time and location with your school in advance will avoid last-minute worries on the day.

Build your support team
Surround yourself with friends, family, and teachers who’ll provide the emotional support you need in the coming days and weeks. Sharing your feelings with them is absolutely key.

You can also consider connecting with older students who’ve navigated the university or work transition. Their experiences and advice can provide valuable insights to any questions you have.

Prepare for results day by deciding who you’ll be with when you open your envelope, your post-results plans, and how you’ll react, whether it’s celebrating or contemplating alternative options.

Prepare for different outcomes
Mentally prepare for various outcomes. If you don’t get the results you hoped for, remember that success takes many paths.

“Your future isn’t solely hinged on those grades. Options are still plentiful, and having a Plan B is a wise move.”

“If you do achieve your desired grades but are worried about sustaining that level of success, don’t hesitate to discuss your concerns with your support network, university, or employer. Talking about your feelings is always important.”

If university is your next stop, research the clearing process and have a list of potential universities and courses in your back pocket just in case you need it.

To help show your options we have created the graphic below – we hope it helps.
