Sacla’ scholarships

Helping students to go to University is another way that companies can support young people. We began a partnership with Sacla’ in 2016 which initially funded two scholarships for students from sixth forms we work with, to complete food-related or business management degree courses.  In 2020, Sacla’ expanded the partnership and is funding 6 additional scholarships over 3 years providing students from less advantaged backgrounds with a financial scholarship worth £5K for each year of their university course. All the students selected get the opportunity to carry out work experience placements at Sacla’ headquarters in Beaconsfield during their courses, with the possibility of employment at the end.

“We chose to offer our scholarships in partnership with Working Options in Education 4 years ago, because of their professionalism and their on the ground links with young people. Those from less advantaged backgrounds will be particularly adversely affected going forward, so we wanted to increase the number of scholarships we can offer. We hope other companies will consider doing the same.” Clare Blampied, MD of Sacla’

It’s going to be a difficult time ahead financially for young people leaving school or sixth form college and considering University. If your company could offer scholarship opportunities or work experience placements please get in touch.

Meet Amber – from scholarship to employment

Amber Buckingham was awarded a Sacla’ scholarship in 2016 to support her during her Food Science degree course at Reading University and now works for them full time as a Technical & New Product Development Assistant.

“The highlight of the scholarship was working with Sacla’ during the summer breaks and gaining valuable work experience. This helped me to put what I was learning at uni into reality and really helped to grow my confidence and gain experience in a professional environment within the industry in which I planned to have a career. I chose to return to Sacla’ as I enjoy the variety of work and products I can get involved with and it’s a very friendly company – I was made to feel welcome from day one.”
