As part of our Career Pathways Programme we were delighted that our Student Advisory Board got the opportunity to interview Nick Bright. Nick is a BBC Radio1Xtra and Radio 5 presenter, DJ and works regularly for BBC TV, Arsenal Breakdown, Red Bull and MTV.
He joined BBC 5Live Sport in August 2018, and has since presented The Squad as well as The Colin Murray show and Weekend Breakfast. Nick regularly appears on Football Focus, The Premier League Show and The NFL Show – interviewing a host of stars in the sporting world as well as working for Arsenal Breakdown, presenting their Matchday Show.
Nick shares his experience of growing up in South London and how at his school, no one aspired to do what he’s doing but that influences throughout his life, and hard work and perseverance, got him to start as an intern at the BBC. Once he got his foot in the door, he then progressed up.
Our Student Advisory Board asked some great questions and heard some great insights and learnings from Nick.
Nick comments: “Speaking to young people about what the future could hold for them is always a pleasure for me. When I was growing up we had a few talks from various people and some of the things they spoke about have stuck with me my whole life. Sometimes we think things are out of reach because of our background or where we grew up but genuinely anything and everything is achievable with grit and belief. Keep pushing.”
