But honestly, every emotion you’re experiencing is absolutely normal and okay. You are not alone in this; countless others have felt these same emotions during this transition!
So, we had a chat amongst the team at Working Options about how we all felt when leaving school, and here’s our emotion-packed list to share with you:
Pride
“Hooray, I did it!” Finishing A-levels is like reaching the peak of a mountain, and you absolutely should take a moment to bask in the pride of your achievement. It’s a big deal!
Relief (let’s be real)
The exam madness is behind you, and that feeling of relief is like a refreshing breeze. You can exhale now because you made it through, and it’s officially in the past.
Elation
Completing your A-levels sparks a burst of happiness that’s hard to contain. You’ve accomplished something significant, and that feeling of accomplishment is like a shot of positive vibes.
And yeah, nervousness too
Feeling a bit jittery about the future is completely natural. Stepping into further studies or a new job can stir up those butterflies, especially when you’re venturing into the unknown without a clear road map.
Excitement
Picture a buzzing energy about what’s ahead. Whether you’re off to uni, diving into work, or taking a gap year, the idea of fresh challenges and new experiences is seriously exciting.
Uncertainty
The next step can seem a bit hazy at times. Those moments of doubt about your choices are par for the course. There’s no crystal ball, unfortunately, but listening to your instincts about what feels right for you is your best guide.
Apprehension
The pressure to excel in your next chapter might make you feel apprehensive. But guess what? You just conquered A-levels – you’re more than equipped to take on whatever comes next.
Hope
In the midst of all these emotions, a strong sense of hope shines through. You’re peering into the future with anticipation, eager to reach your goals, grow as a person, and build your future.
Loss
No one can say that waving goodbye to the familiar isn’t tough. Leaving behind your routine, friends, and the familiar environment might feel unsettling. Please remember though, your friends will still be there for you (as you will be for them), you’ll just be spending time with them in different settings – as well as adding new ones as you expand your network in further studies or work.
Nostalgia
Leaving behind a place that’s been a big part of your life can stir up a wave of nostalgia. You’ll reminisce about friends, teachers, and shared moments – it’s like a warm mix of memories – but you will have those memories to keep with you throughout your life.
Yes, it’s a roller coaster of emotions right now, but you’ve got this. Try to embrace the ups and downs, because this journey is all about growth, new experiences, and carving out a path that’s uniquely yours.
But remember, if you are finding it difficult reach out and talk to your friends and family – they probably felt the same when they finished school.
