Problem-solving is a key skill that employers look for, and one that you will utilize throughout your life and future career, in some form or another. The idea of problem-solving may appear daunting or overwhelming, especially if it’s needed in a pressured situation. However, if you remain calm and have a few techniques under your belt… you can become a problem-solving Ninja!
1.Try to see things from a different perspective
There are lots of different ways to look at a problem (and different ways to solve them too).
2.Think outside the box
Thinking outside the box and using creative thinking can help you overcome seemingly impossible tasks.
3. Make a list
Making lists can help you decide on what course of action to take. For example, you might be trying to decide whether to go to University or not. Make a list of all the pros and cons to help you come to the best decision.
4. Separate fact from fiction
Make sure you don’t mistake assumptions as fact. Set out your facts. What is true, false and what don’t you know for certain?
5. Follow a logical process
Breaking problems into manageable steps can make them easier to work through.
6. Stop, Listen, Go!
Try not to dive into solving a problem straight away. Take some time to think about it first then listen to others. You’re more likely to tackle the problem in an efficient way.
