From Taster Days to the Allstars stage

There were plenty of winners at the GP Bullhound Allstars Awards last week, but one of the highlights for us was seeing Jai’Del join our Chair, Nigel Morris, on stage in front of a room packed with founders, investors and business leaders.

It was a fitting moment because it reflected something we’ve seen consistently from Jai’Del over the past year – a willingness to put himself forward, get involved and make the most of every opportunity available to him.

Since first connecting with Working Options, Jai’Del has taken part in several employer taster days, secured a week of work experience and engaged with professionals from a range of industries. Every conversation, every experience and every new connection has helped him build a clearer picture of the opportunities available to him and where his own ambitions could take him.

That’s one of the reasons our partnership with GP Bullhound is so valuable.

Many people will know GP Bullhound through flagship events such as the GP Bullhound Allstars Awards and the Allstars Football Tournament, both of which raise vital funds to support our work. What is less visible is the support that runs throughout the events and across the year. Colleagues give their time to share career insights, help young people understand different industries, support employer experiences and create opportunities for students to meet people and hear stories they may never otherwise encounter.

Jai’Del’s journey is a brilliant example of what can happen when those opportunities meet a young person who is prepared to grab them with both hands.

Before joining Nigel on stage, he spent the evening doing exactly what we’d encourage any young person to do – introducing himself, talking to people, asking questions and building new connections. The same curiosity and willingness to engage that helped him make the most of previous opportunities was evident throughout the night.

When the conversation moved to the stage, he spoke openly about his experiences, his aspirations and the importance of being exposed to opportunities beyond those immediately in front of you. In a room filled with people at the top of their professions, he outshone them all!

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and a huge thank you to everyone who supported Working Options on the night, whether through donations, volunteering or offering opportunities for young people to experience the world of work first-hand.

And to GP Bullhound, thank you for continuing to invest in young people not just through fundraising, but through the time, insight, connections and opportunities that help broaden horizons and build futures.
